REALCO is an innovative company in a state-of-the-art sector: industrial biotechnology. Our Research & Development department therefore has a two-pronged objective. Firstly, to maintain REALCO’s position as a pioneer and thus secure its strategy for growth. Secondly, to maintain REALCO's expertise in formulating enzymes and/or renewable raw materials and their application in various target sectors.

R&D is constantly working on designing new products, improving existing formulations and developing new applications. Research results enable REALCO to regularly market innovative products that best meet customers’ special requirements. This visible aspect of the R&D activity is based on 30 years of ongoing fundamental research into cleaning agents, enzymes and their potential applications.

REALCO’s R&D Department has worked and continues to work with various companies, universities (UCL, ULB, ULG) and research institutes (CELABOR, CRA). These partnerships accelerate technology and knowledge transfer and thereby enhance the Department’s research potential. Through this work REALCO has forged special relationships with university departments and sponsors various academic research topics and projects.

REALCO invests substantially in research, as much as 15% of its turnover. This investment is viewed as crucial to maintaining its leadership position and offers R&D a high performance laboratory and the most up to date analysis equipment and technology, e.g. spectrophotometry. The research team is built on complementary disciplines: bioengineers, chemical engineers and biochemists.

In order to meet customer needs REALCO is able to offer the expertise of its engineers. Their skill helps customers implement innovative solutions for cleaning, water purification and animal waste. To help our customers in their developmental projects or implementation of enzymatic solutions, our R&D department offers advisory and expertise services, evaluation of product testing and technology training.
