The process

Liquid manure is a source of major concern for farmers. The main problems are:

Alongside animal husbandry with slatted floors, traditional animal husbandry still exists. Horses in pens are the best example of this. The bedding is changed every two days on average. It is made up of absorbent organic matter (barley straw, wheat straw, flax straw, wood chippings, etc.). This bedding is also commonly used in pig, cattle and poultry farming. It absorbs urine and faecal matter and cannot stay in place for very long since the moisture rate increases quickly and the urea is reduced into ammonia (through the effect of the urease). This situation is a source of irritation to the animals' legs and respiratory tracts.

REALCO's technology offers a biological method based on an enzymatic hydrolysis and an introduction of bacteria selected for their ability to break down the organic matter. In fact, the presence of macro-molecules is the the main reason for the solidification of the liquid manure. The proteins and the fibres join together into coherent structures causing this solidification. Consequence: oxygen can no longer be transferred within the liquid manure and an anaerobic flora develops, resulting in the appearance of foul-smelling odours.

The addition of a specifically selected enzyme cocktail allows the hydrolysis of the matter contained in the pits to be accelerated. The technology developed by REALCO also allows the hydrolysed molecules to be kept in solution. The liquid manure therefore remains liquid, homogeneous and can be easily pumped for spreading on fields. In addition, the hydrolysed molecules form a complex network of molecules which keeps water within it and slows down evaporation. The liquid manure can retain the moistness that it contains for longer, which is a useful advantage when spreading on fields and during periods of strong heat where the moistness of the soils is an essential parameter for crops to grow well.

Another consequence of this enzymatic hydrolysis is a more significant development of the bacteria within the liquid manure.

In animal bedding, the biotechnology can ensure a controlled degradation of the bedding, while providing a healthy environment for the animal. REALCO's technology is based on the synergy of various components acting to break down the animal droppings, maintain a maximum moisture rate and introduce a healthy flora for the animal

The Products

REALCO researches, develops and manufactures responsible products which meet the specific needs of professionals for maintenance, and the treatment of waste water, liquid manure and animal bedding.

REALCO goes further and commits to: responsibility and effectiveness. Our enzymatic and bacterial solutions accelerate and control the natural ecosystem present within a farm and intensive animal husbandry, improving the animal husbandry comfort and conditions.

ECOSYSTEM

The original concept is based on the control of the natural bacterial ecosystem subjected to worrying factors, such as pathogenic agents. This natural control is carried out by specific bacterial complexes. Unfavourable atmospheric factors are reduced or even eliminated.
Thanks to a better understanding of the natural ecosystem, the method patented by REALCO reduces the contaminations caused by the majority of pathogenic and resistant germs.
